“I know there’s someone out there
Waiting for me
There must be someone out there
There just has to be” — Has To Be by Madonna
I loved the 90s HBO sitcom Dream On as a kid. The main characther Martin’s internal dialog and thoughts always involved old movie clips. For me, its pop song lyrics. It sums up what I am feeling deep down in my heart, even though I try to ignore it or push it away. …
In 1995, I was attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in my sophomore year. I was coming to grips with my sexuality and felt I was hiding who I was from my friends and family. It broke my heart because I thought I was living a lie, that I was a fraud. A phony.
Growing up, I lived in the conservative Chicago suburb of Glen Ellyn, Illinois. …
I agree with the Vice article 100000 percent. EDM is like McDonalds, popular empty calories lowest common denominator big room commercial dance music.

He died the day after we were inducted into the National Honors Society at the end of our junior year in high school.
Maybe it is just me, but since I turned 40 I have been paranoid about my age, particularly since the Mighty Gray Hair Invasion of my beard has begun. My parents did not even start graying until their 60s, and my mom barely had any when she passed.
I might belong to the “tribes” where youth is celebrated and even a necessity; being gay, producing electronic music, and working in the tech/design industry. Let me leave it to the CEO and creator of Facebook to explain why.
“I want to stress the importance of being young and technical. Young people…
Even if we were to assume that black people benefit from affirmative action and diversity programmes in all of the ways that white people benefitted for hundreds of years (spoiler: we don’t), the effe…
Actually WHITE WOMEN are one of the biggest benefactors of affirmative action
Privilege isn’t about microaggressions or minor social perks. It’s the cumulative effect of opportunities that your ancestors enjoyed long before you were born. It’s the ability to pursue happiness without society doing everything it can to block your path. It’s having parents and grandparents who passed the fruits of their opportunities down through the …
